Whether you're new to the backcountry hiking, or looking to develop on your wilderness skills, Trip The Himalaya invites you on a trip to celebrate the outdoors with the 9K-UK Summit Series: Dayara Summit at 11,181 ft (3,408m)

Your Trip

Trip takes the explorers into the nature’s own garden, while raising the awareness about tree community among people, and trail talks on the need for planting and tending of trees. We discuss many ways on how to prevent unintended littering and reduce our plastic pollution on the hillside and remote locations of the Himalaya.

What We Enjoy on This Trip

- Quaint shepherd-villages amidst whispering Deodar forests

- Traversing the zigzag Himalayan ranges in this region

- High altitude, alpine meadows of the village

- Camp amid salubrious and an tranquil environment

- Butterflying & Birding

- Lush Kharsu Oak, Cider & Rhododendron forest.

- The dominating panorama of the Himalayan snow peaks

  • This was an amazing experience! And overcoming my fear of heights was the best part of it! From rocky walks to slippery ones, everything was perfect! Connecting with nature and knowing the real importance of it, makes me realise how careful we have to be at our every step. And I am very thankful that we had perfect people /teachers to guide us and making us believe in ourselves. Also segregating the waste sought me to help my surroundings clean. - Puallu Sharma (Student, Grade 10)

Dayara Bugyal Summit:7K.UK Summit Series

About Dayara Bugyal

The pasture uplands of Uttarakhand’s alpine heights are focal points for many of our splendid treks in the region. These are the Bugyals—fecund grassy uplands secreted away in mountain laps where shepherds take their herds in summer days before the winter snow renders them fallow. Dayara is a relatively lesser known Bugyal, accessible from Uttarkashi by just a short, crisp trek but it is one that pays off magnificent rewards.

Dayara in the local tongue refers to a circular plot of land, reflecting the hoop shaped grassy turf of this Bugyal, margined by dark oak and maple woods and beyond the green reaches, a glowing snowline of the Bandarpoonch and other ranges. Along the entire stretch, at different junctures, you can catch glimpses of the Gangotri set of peaks, Srikanth peak, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak.

Nature & Wildlife

A rambling walk through the undulated pastures of Dayara will bring you out of the world frames of its green ecosystem, the whispering wilderness of the oak woods, and somewhere far away, a breathless peak view panorama gradually unveiling.

Summit Series: Dayara Bugyal (4D/3N)

For hundreds of years, shepherds have been taking their flock to graze at Dayara Bugyal. Time and again, they have come back with stories of the abundance of fresh, soft grass and the splendor of the mighty Himalayan mountain peaks cradling the meadows. A high point of the journey comes on the fourth day when we are ascending to 12, 100 ft. from our Dayara campsite to Dayara Top.

Join our Trip the Himalaya team of certified outdoor instructors and naturalists for an introduction to being in the forest. Trip includes sessions on tent pitching, staying warm & dry, camp cleanliness, short hikes around forests for flora and fauna identification in the area. In addition, there are trail talks on Himalayan geography, environmental issues affecting this area and a plantation drive.

Frequently asked questions by our clients on:

What Should I Wear?

Hiking Boots:  A mid or high boot will protect you ankle from unnatural twists and sprain on uneven terrain. Tough, chiseled Vibram soles made for trail hiking will grab onto rock and slippery surfaces and will hold up against lots of abuse over time much better than regular running shoes or sneakers

Quick-dry or soft-shell outdoor pants: Jeans, which are made out of cotton, absorb humidity and water and stay very wet which, if the water or air is cold,  can lead to hypothermia. They also do not insulate as well as synthetic fiber pants do.

Waterproof outer layer of pants and jacket: A breathable but completely waterproof pants and jacket combo will ensure that your under layers stay dry from rain and release moisture from sweat.

Wool socks: Like jeans, cotton socks retain moisture and adjust to the temperature of the atmosphere while wool socks keep you warm and dry even in heavy rain or after stepping in a puddle.

You said that I have to wear hiking boots. What if I have sneakers that I love to hike in?

In the winter, we recommend wearing hiking boots because they will keep your feet warm and dry. In the summer, many of our trails can be hiked in sneakers if you’re confident in your ability. Be aware that sneakers do not have the same tread or ankle support as a hiking boot. Simply put, boots are safer.

Where do I go to the bathroom?

The cabs got stuck in traffic! Something came up and I couldn’t make it! Can I get a trip credit?

This one is going to sting. We would have loved to see you out on the trip with us, but if you can’t come we need at least one week’s advanced notice in order to be able to give you a trip credit. There are no exceptions.

Should I tip my guide?

Our guides are the best you’ll find anywhere. If you had a great day with us, a tip is always appreciated.

Are we going hiking even though it’s raining and windy?

We do hike in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on adventures! If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the trip will be changed or postponed. You will be notified the week of your trip if there are changes due to weather.

Will we still be going snowshoeing if there’s no snow in the forecast?

If we schedule a snowshoeing trip, we make every effort to select a trail that has adequate snow for a great trip. If this is not possible we will change the trip to a winter hike.

I’m signing up by myself. Will there be other solo travellers on the trip?

One of the great reasons to go on our trips is you don’t have to depend on unreliable friends. Many people sign up solo and within minutes on the trip, find themselves making friends.

I have a child who loves the outdoors, can I bring him with?

At this point, most of our public trips are for 18+ only. That being said, we can run private trips for any ages.

What type of person goes on a Trip the Himalaya programme?

Ages generally range from early twenties through fifties, though there are definitely people of all ages on our trips. We find that there’s a pretty even split between male and female on our trips. The common thread we find is an adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.
